PilotConnect
USHPA has initiated a way of sending e-mails to pilots, sort of like PMing works on this board. It's called PilotConnect. But, you have to update your profile on the USHPA web page to allow you to receive these messages. This might be a good way of welcoming new H2s and P2s into the fold, assuming they check the right box.

USing PilotCOnnect?
David,
Once that system is in use, do the messages go by regular e-mail to teh members, or do members have to log in ot he USHPA site to see their messgaes?
If the latter, I predict a great failure in the concept. Folks get tired of logging into lots of message sites.

How PilotConnect Works
David and I completed the test, with the final step being e-mail directly to me from David, after he got my note through PilotConnect. His reply is below.
SO.. here is the deal. PilotConnect hides the e-mail address of members that you may wish to e-mail a note to. It does not hide the e-mail of the sender of the note, only the recipient.
This makes it a good way to make first contact. If the recipient wants to open a dialog, he or she can mail back directly as David did to me.
Further, to get to a name to send a PilotConnecct message, you have to be logged into the members only area of the USHPA site, and use the member search feature. Plus, the intended recipient has to have turned on their participation.
This all adds up to we MIGHT be able to use it for an initial contact to newly rated H1/2s and P1/2sin our area, IF they have agreed to accept PiltoConnect messages. It iwll be worth trying.. we should probably have a standard boilerplate greeting and introduction e-mail from one of the CHGPA officers, and send it out monthly based on new ratings announced in the magazine.

Received! But, if it's supposed to be secure, how come I can see
your e-mail address?
