Republican Primaries

Post by Paul Tjaden »

Huckabee??? They've got to be kidding. So I guess the Right Wingers want to replace one fundy Xtian who gets to be "the decider" after God has spoken to him with another fundy Xtian who will do the same thing.

Great!!! We wouldn't want anybody in charge who'd use logic and reason. That surely wouldn't work.

After the Iowa caucus, a friend of mine (who is otherwise pretty intelligent) said that Huckabee wasn't that bad. I said that I had a problem with someone who didn't believe evolution is happening. She said not believing in evolution isn't that critical. I said it sure is if it means that the dude doesn't want to look at the evidence before making a decision. She said she saw the error in her thinking. If only the other voters could be so easily made aware...

A couple days back, our boy Hugh McElrath sent the following post to me. Hope he doesn't mind me posting it here.

'If Huckabee doesn't believe in evolution, what else doesn't he believe in? The germ theory of disease (After all, it's just a theory)? The first, second, and third laws of thermodynamics? Kepler's Law of planetary motion? E=mc2? If you don't believe in the scientific basis for nuclear weapons, you shouldn't get the football... "

The scary thing is Bush, a man who hears voices in his head and follows the instructions, still has the football. I still think he would use it in Iran if he can find the "right" excuse.
