We're havin' fun, too!

Glad to hear that you snow bunnies are having a good time soaring the Rock! I'll always remember stepping off into space there for the first time, eyes on the horizon while my stomach pushed into my throat. Thanks, Tom, Brian, and Terry, I'll never forget your kindness.
We're having great soaring here for December. Yesterday I flew the Litespeed for at Quest for a little less than an hour. Paul flew the Combat (GREAT glider) for a little longer. It's really fun because we've had so many people flying. Kevin is getting his pilot license and has been staying with us; Dustin and Jamie are at Quest weekends, plus April just got back, and the winter regulars have started to trickle in.
I think I'm going to get my tandem rating. It will be fun to introduce others to the sport that has given me so much joy.
I finally got permission to do a feature on hang gliding at Wallaby from Visitflorida.com, the official state website. I work for them as their "adventure expert." I get to find cool things to do and then appear in videos or write articles about them. I drove a race car at the Daytona
International Speedway at 146 mph a few days ago!
I think we'll go fly Wallaby tomorrow before the big party. I can't wait to get (more) publicity for the sport -- you all know Wallaby was actually featured on the Today Show - can't beat that with a stick!
Keep flying safe and having fun,
Lauren

Oh yeah? Well, ya gotta be TOUGH to live here, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s. I couldn't live someplace warm like Florida - no way! - make my blood thin, probably get skin cancer. Yup I LIKE it cold and dark and miserable. Builds character! - Hugh

--- and our furnace blower motor conked out two nights ago. Can't get anyone out to fix it till next week. Gonna try a to fix it myslef again tomorrow. So we're without heat during the coldest nights of the season.

But still, love the winter....

Camaraderie

Thanks Hugh. That's what you have up here. Camaraderie. We're surviving with space heaters, the fireplace and the old turning on the burners and opening the oven door.

Supposed to warm up this weekend.

Daniels anyone??? Sunday looks better.
