Reduce oil imports to zero

If possible it would be worth trying.

This is a report with a long term plan. The only one I know to date that looks at various aspects, they are challenging but not achievable.

Wow. Haven't checked the numbers, but it sounds pretty convincing. They've seriously addressed the question of how to store solar electricity.

I'd read about another idea, covering North Dakota with wind turbines and using the electricity to make hydrogen, which would travel by pipeline over the country. Apparently no one wants to live there anymore, and it's always windy.
