I just checked on my way home today......... Small crops at the bottom, but the hill looks great!

Are you guys sure it's closed?
I've been talking to Richard, this is what he suspects:
"Winter wheat" is a cover crop only. Farmers plant it to prevent erosion. They plow it under in the springtime. So...the LZ is green grass looking? Thats what George and Rusty have been saying. It should be perfectly fine to land in. Cover crops are only for erosion control.!!
Maybe we're getting the wrong info and Smithburg has been open for quite some time now?

Crops

The crops on the bottom field at Smithsburg looked like soy beans to me-- not grass. I'll call Eddie Miller tonight and ask him to stop by and ask the landowners the status of the hill.

Soy is taller than that and has beans. I didn't see any beans three weeks ago.

Sounds like we have an idea for a future meeting program:

Talked to Eddie. The far field is cut. However, the main field just at the bottom is still not cut. It's barley. Eddie will talk to landowner again today. He'll call Shawn as soon as there is any change.
