why do you point your toes?

or, what's the reason for getting a pod or aerodynamic harness?

Because it makes your legs look long and slim, of course!

I suppose a pod is in fact faster - maybe it keeps your legs warm, too?

Well, I tracked it down: it's to increase your L/D. Doesn't do anything for your airspeed.

So, in the hypothetical situation ;-) where you're going up, while on full speedbar and already having problems penetrating I'm guessing that it would be a bad idea to point your toes. Better to pull big ears and assume the crucified Jesus position (ala one local pilot whose name ends in W)

Huh? So why is it called "speed bar"? Seems to me in a situation where you are "pinned" by increased wind speed, you want both to descend and penetrate, therefore minimize drag. If all you want to do is descend, then imitate Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate. - Hugh
