Sorry for the late post on High Rock. I can only add my gratitude for Rich and Leigh’s organizational and culinary expertise, Danny’s firm grip of the proceedings and other odds and ends as the master sommelier, and everyone else who made the event a success for participants, masses of spectators, and Emma Jane and family.
I hadn’t been to the Rock for some time and enjoyed meeting some old hands, newer pilots, and serving with Bacil, Shawn, and others as wire crew until I launched about 12:30.
After working a nice thermal to 4,525 MSL I thought I was at the top of the stack – until I looked up and saw Dave Green on his stalwart UP glider several hundred feet higher. During the next two plus hours I lost some altitude, survived two flush cycles, got high again, but each time I looked up, there was Dave Green’s UP high above. Did anyone else notice him?
During my time in the air he was always at the top of the stack. Later in the LZ he was the perfect self-effacing gentleman and downplayed his aerial dominance. Well done on all accounts Dave!
Thanks for HR and Kudos to Dave Green
