Oh, the Shame!!!
So we have the Prez of USHPA show up for a meeting and, once again, only the usual suspects attend. In fact, most of the usual suspects didn't bother to come. We had the meeting within a few miles of about a dozen pilots who live in Virgina- and DC- pilots who fly regularly-- and they didn't attend. We had a $1000 up for grabs to encourage the outlying pilots to attend. Nope. None attended. Only 15 pilots came to the meeting. The only PG pilots to attend were Ben and LE. And LE is the Region 9 Director.
I can't believe it. No one seems to care anymore.
We have no new Hang 2s or P2s.
Our sport is dead.

Correction
My apologies, PG Pilot Aaron Bills attended the meeting.

I would've been there. But like most meetings, they fall on days when I am away. As a matter of fact, I am in Turkey right now and waiing to get back home. We have taken the President of Afghanistan home. I am eating a "cup of Noodles" and exhausted. I should be home Friday afternoon. But if I could've attend I would've been there, I can sure use the money towards a new glider. Anyways, I hope to be at the High Rock fly-in.

Perhaps
Perhaps a bit of assumption about the priority of caring about the sport and making time out one night for just a couple of hours just once every few months.
Perhamaps a bit of assumption about the priority of showing some respect to the President of our National Association who flew out here from Idaho to address and meet the local pilots.
I'm sure there are some valid excuses and schedule conflicts. But I'm also sure that a lot of it is just plain lethargy-- don't want drive in traffic, don't want to go out on a weeknight, too busy with work or home or whatever. Give me a break!!!!
Pilots can spend three hours driving each way to a flying site and devote an entire day to "maybe" flying. But they can't drive a few miles to participate in club activities that are vital to securing and promoting the sport.
