Pulpit Sat, then onward to Highland?

Post by markc »

Some of the forecasts are looking pretty promising for the Pulpit
tomorrow... I'm thinking of flying there, and then heading to
Highland's crab pick that night. What are others thinking?

Or, if the cloud cover isn't as bad as some of the forecasts, maybe
fly at Highland and then party afterwards.

Choices, choices....

Highland

LOVED flying in at Woodstock last week... Heading to Highland this weekend ...Beer plus food plus flying (sunday pretty good looking) is hard to beat. Hopefully Sat will be slightly better than forecast and allow a decent day. See you there!

Pulpit today?

Post by Dan T »

I don't see what you guys are seeing, but I'd sure like to be tempted out of here today.

Winds aloft look like they will clock around more to the WNW as the day goes on. Add to that the general instability and top of lift appears higher in the mountains as overcast clears--those are the reasons I'm tempted to head to the Pulpit.

Tomorrow looks light north and more stable.

Hmmm... Tough call. NWS says that the front is going to hit
Pulpit and WStock by 2pm.

ADDs 3k has a blip of 20-30kts in south-central PA at 5pm, so
perhaps too strong for the Pulpit?

Could be a be-there-when-it-blows-through sorta
day at Woodstock, even though the winds look lighter in
northen VA?

I'm leaning that way at the moment.... But can be conviced
otherwise :)

Just noticed that the low might in fact cause a ramp up in velocity. I agree with Woodstock call.

Just took a look at the satellite, and I think it's saying... Woodstock!

Bit of a gamble, since it's not supposed to be really strong
behind the front. But I think Pulpit is even more of a gamble.

Marc, Steve K, Ellis, and myself are in, and hopefully we'll
see some others out there!

Woot! Woot!

So did anyone fly at Woodstock or Highland on Sunday??? I heard that some PG's flew at Hogback that day and it was pretty nice.
