Falcon Speed Gliding

Post by stevek »

So what do yoou think would happen if somebody with a hook in weight of close to 300 lbs took a falcon, moved the hang point forward 14 inches (!!), hooked in and jumped off the Rock? Yeah, I would have said the same thing but you are wrong. It actually flew and even made the LZ (just barely). Sure was one fast trip. Pilot (Glen) and glider are fine.

Glen had loaned the glider to Janni who uses his own hang straps. Glen put his back on yesterday but was "distracted" and lined them up wrong

So maybe preflights aren't really obsolete after all ( SK method: no more parts on ground? glider is set up and ready to fly)

Other than that it was just another boring day at the Rock. 2700 over. Skip Brown and I went way out in the valley. Bruce E, Skip, Tim H, Kurt K, Glen and Eddie.

ooooch! No problem keeping the nose down on that one!!
Gives me the willies...he must have really muscled that sucker out to miss the trees. So long as he can hold his CG in position the flying would be the same, but the immediate post-launch must have been a combination of reflexes and terror-induced strength.

Glad you made it, Glen.
