For those that want to attend a premier meet with foot-launching in the mountains--I highly recommend the TTT's team challenge at the end of September. This year has been an epic record-breaking one for huge xc's in the SE, and there's nothing quite like crossing the gaps and ridge systems in TN! This is also an ideal meet for a pilot just starting out in comps as the whole idea behind it is to get the lesser experienced pilots to goal with help from the more experienced ones. This year will feature handicapping not only for the experience level, but also for the glider type. I've decided to return early to Chattanooga so I can attend--would be kinda cool to have a team from DC area. Hopefully my new Litespeed RS and Matrix harness will be ready by then.
That's a fun meet, I'd like to go if someone is interested in sharing the drive and expenses. I'd probably stay in a nearby motel, they aren't very expensive down there.
There's a clubhouse on launch and camping with bathrooms and showers on site. I imagine there'll be overflow room elsewhere. Several treetoppers are already talking gourmet bbq ribs and smokers on site. Should be totally awesome!
