How did you do? Dave Proctor and I joined JR at High Point. JR few 30+ miles. I made 56 and Dave landed in Front Royal for 59. It was a good day, with the Dulles airspace being too big an obstacle for us to have really long flights. However, still another great day.

It was a wonderful day there. I think 7 hgs and 6 pgs flew. I flew my hg launching just after 3:00 PM for a little over 2 hours with lots of good thermals and got to cloud base at 6550 one time and 5300 an earlier time. You could fly as long as you wanted. It was one of the best fights I have had there for several years. The pg's didn't start to fly until 5:00 PM when it got a little lighter and when I left the LZ at 6:30 they were soaring to their hearts content. Maybe others can post about their flight also.

PGs had a stellar time with over two hours in smooth air with fat gentle thermals. This was twice as sweet because there was some anxiety that we would be skunked while the HGs had such a great time. Tom went back to his vehicle and went back on the clock at work via his wireless connection. He came back about 5:30 and declared it flyable. In a first, I answered the phone while sitting in my easy chair at 1600 AGL. It was Joe inviting us over for beer after. It took me awhile to decide to answer it (if it squirted out of my gloved hand, it would be the second phone I had lost in as many weeks) and extricate it from my pocket. Then I had to wedge it inside my helmet, first trying the left side, where I already had a radio earpiece, then the right ear. Joe was laughing "well, I hear the vario beeping and the wind noise, so I get the picture". Had to take affirmative action to get down at the end - you could just float forever. Alex from Hawaii pronounced the flying here unsurpassed anywhere in the world. He posted a link on the PG forum to his write-up on his home forum. This in turn leads to some excellent photos via the button at the top of the page. - Hugh
