turns out the gorries (sort of the site managers) have already left for Hyner. I don't know if anyone else who will be there will have waivers.
HOWEVER: if you join the new Hyner club, which has merged with the western pennsylvania club, you will have access to all the sites (8-10 of 'em!)

Got to the SAC just before 1P to find Larry Bunner 2K+ over and Dave Proctor, Tom McGowan, and Ashley Groves set up and getting ready. The sky looked awesome and Tom and Dave had brought Lorie the driver. Dave took off first in a light cycle and worked hard to get up. Tom took off second and got up a little quicker with nice lift to the west of the slot. Ashley took off last and got up even easier right up in front of launch. Both Dave and Tom got up in a nice thermal just west of launch, but Dave burned off all the altitude to land due to radio problems. Lorie fetched Dave while I set up. Tom went OTB, and Ashley hung out above the mountain. Larry had disappeared OTB by this time as well. I took off after 2P and struggled in a very west cross on the ridge. One pothole east of launch sunk me below the slot and I bailed off the ridge to hopefully find something in the valley quick. Didn't find anything big enough to circle in and had a very west landing in the main LZ. While breaking down Ashley declared he was going OTB with 3K' over. Climbed the mountain to get the truck and got my stuff. Bill Umstaad and a student showed up in the LZ as I was leaving and mentioned they had seen Ashley by the road just off of Rt. 25 SE of Sacramento. I stopped by launch at 4P, and it was coming straight in and easily soarable. I then fetched Ashley and gave him a ride to his vehicle, which Dave parked by the Rt. 25/I-81 interchange, then hit the road. When Ashley was landing Tom had just made it into the flatlands north of Lebanon, with Dave and Lorie chasing Tom. Goal was Ridgely.

It was a fabulous day, with lots of cloud streets. I had my best flight of th day, but ended up a couple miles further west than ideal to make it to the eastern shore. I landed just south of Elkton while trying to cross cloud streets to the east for about 86 miles. I really special day. Today looks good too. I hope someone gets to take advantage of it.

My first time at the Sac. It was a great site, I will fly it again. It was hard getting up, a long slow battle with fast sinks and slow climbs. Eventually I got over 3K (cloud base was at least a few thousand more), and had drifted too far back looking for a dissapearing thermal. I darted down wind, but alas a lawn dart. Over an hour. Lots of fun.

I can't see it. Shallow slot, hg's launch off a mount of dirt to get enough altitude to clear the trees. No way to lay-out: wing would be behind the mound or you would be in front of it with not enough room to get clear of the trees.
I was thinking about pg'ers yesterday not having any options. There were plenty of cycles that were straight in at High Rock. Although I don't think our chances are very good, we need to float our proposal to cut a slot on the property. We just need to add some details and we'll give it a try.

Yeah what a great day. The streets were well defined and probably 3000' over when I arrived at 1000. I was set up ready for launch at 1100 alas no one showed up until after 1200. Next time I'll make better plans and contacts to ensure we maximize the front end of the day. As for the flying, Tom and Lori wired me off and I spent the next hour relearning how to thermal in the mountains. Got to 4500' a couple times but could see cloud base was much higher so I'd penetrate back to the ridge looking for something to take me all the way up. Finally found something consistent enough to get me to cloud base all the way at the eastern end of the ridge before it winds to the NE. I only hit one more thermal before leaving the mountains. I was probably 5-10 miles behind Tom at the time. I oculd hear everyone's transmissions but unfortunately couldn't transmit. My original plan was to fly home which is due south of launch about 50 miles. Tom offered his driver's services however it didn't make sense to land out and then have the group drive all the way back to get my vehicle when they could just head home from wherever they ended up. Perhaps I could have been coaxed to go along if I could communicate but it was not to be so I headed cross wind to get back on track toward my house. Did manage to get over 7000' out on the flats and thought I could make it but landed about 6 miles short. Tom showed the potential for the site by making the first leg to Elkton. I predict someone will break 150 miles from this site on a similar type day (like today!). This mountain stuff is really cool!
