Spectacular! Gliders?

Post by Paul Tjaden »

(This is Lauren, not Paul, but we are on the road and the server won't recognize my password.) The KH Spectacular was a jumble of great people, parties, close-to-the-terrain-flying, and pilots with amazing skills. I saw Billy V land downwind --and the wind was pretty strong -- and stop the glider in a prettier flare than most manage UPWIND. I saw another pilot turn around in the control frame and fly his glider backwards. He wimped out and turned back forwards to land, though. Myself, I was just pleased to live to see dinner. We stayed with our WONDERFUL friend Peter, who has been our flying buddy for months.
Some nice folks from Lookout (Dale and John) shared their little Pulse with me, since I was a little scared of the condition of the Mark 4.
Speaking of gliders, we can drop the club gliders off where ever anyone wants, and we'll be right in DC. The big one is pretty sweet. It's a shame no one has used it for so long. Perhaps the club would consider selling it? If anyone is going to fly the little one I should show them a few things on it.
Can't wait to go fly with you all (I'm in MD now)!

Welcome back to the Mid-Atlantic Paul & Lauren! Will you be at Highland this weekend? Hopefully winds & weather (and traffic) cooperate, I'm looking forward to flying this holiday weekend!

Lauren,

I have custody of the small Mark IV. Other than being a little ragged out, I thought it was basically airworthy. I've flown it several times. Still alive, but I could've missed something.

Are you going to be inside the beltway at any time? I'm in Arlington. Let me know offline.

Lauren and I are staying with Karen and Matthew Thursday and Friday nights and then moving on to Virginia to see our old friends and neighbors for a couple of days so we won't be flying this weekend. Not certain when we'll be heading back to Ridgely but probably will be there by mid week.

See you then I hope.

Paul
