Emma Jane called to let us know that Harry had a heart attack yesterday. He is at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, MD in the ICU. They are trying to decide whether he should have open heart surgery to repair an artery that shows several blockages. As some of you may recall, he had open heart surgery about 10 years ago.

Please keep Harry in your thoughts and prayers.

Talked to EJ yesterday. Harry has had stents put in where he had blockages. They wanted to do bypass surgery but didn't think he was strong enough. They may do it when he gets stronger. He should be in his room by now and I think I will drive over and say Hi. I'll get him some flowers and a card on behalf of all of us. I think EJ would like to hear from us. I doubt she wants to be innundated with calls so not sure how to handle it . I had held off calling for that reason but apparently everybody thought the same and nobody called. So she is feeling a little lonely. I think inundated is better.

Harry is still in the ICU but looks good and sounds good He can get up and move around. He will come home Saturday if all goes as expected.

Didn't get flowers. No flowers in the ICU. Might be nice if people sent him get well cards. (He should be home now). SteveK

Emma Jane called this morning to say that Harry had emergency surgery last night to remove his colon. He is having a difficult time right now, and Emma Jane asked that we keep Harry in our thoughts today.

I talked to Emma Jane a few minute ago (Sunday at 8:30 pm). Harry is looking better, although still in the ICU. I will post again as I get more news.

Now they have taken out his gallbladder. He is on a ventilator. EJ says they told her his chances were 50 50. Hope he makes it.

A lot of you have already contributed to the Carbaugh family grocery fund and so I'm going to close it out (there's probably a limit to how much they want to spend at Food Lion after all). Thanks everyone for your generosity!

I just called Emma Jane and let her know something is on the way (I will also send a notecard). She was very appreciative.

She was on her way out to see Harry, who, just to recap, has now undergone three surgeries, any one of which would be tramautic: cardiac stint insertion, gall bladder removal and colonostomy. He is still on a ventilator but they hope to take him off of that soon. He doesn't yet know all that has happened.
