My 1st PG XC of the year

Post by Spark »

I'm in the Vegas area for some training this week. I drove over from Denver on Friday and had two good days of flying.

Saturday was truck towing on the dry lake bed wit both HG and PG. Some of the other pilots had great flights. I got extended sled rides.

On Sunday, Bruce Engen stopped by on his way to California and offered to drive for me. We met with some other pilots at Lower Potosi (Goodsprings) Nevada. I launched from the back side into light westerly winds, went OTB to avoid the hellish LZ on the W side, plummeted like a rock, and finally caught one (low save) to about 8600msl. After two thermals, some near frontals, and a deep stall, I finally made my way to a perfect landing on a grassy lawn at the local Park in the little town of Blue Diamond, Nevada - coincidentally about 50 yards from a store with cold beverages.

Did you land next to the pool? Is there a lot of new development around there?
