Yes, this is definitely cool, and beats TerraServer or other satellite photo sources. The downside is that the level of detail varies a lot between locations. Woodstock looks okay in the view from 20,000'...but sink down to 1000' over and it just gets blurry (or you get a message saying "Sorry but no data available at this resolution.").

If you really want to be amazed, check out the detail level around Washington, DC (for example, look at Great Falls). Man! I wish our flying sites were more sensitive (and had greater detail!). Actually, HR might have super-detail...I'll have to check that out...

If that's landsat data I'm impressed: it's very expensive. The lower
resolution satellite data is free.

Intersting security aspect... look at DC at the highest resolution. The White House and Excutive Office Building and Old Executive Office Bulding on either side of it have their roof details obscured by overlay opaque graphics.
Then stroll down to the Capital building. It, and all of the surrounding grounds and the Senate and House office buildings are obscured by pixellation instead of an overlay.
Likewise, the Naval Observatory out Massachusettes Avenue is also pixellated, like the Capital grounds.

I looked for Camp David. The satellite coverage west of Thurmont does not go down to a close resolution that it would matter.
The camp is well covered by foliage to make it difficult so see from teh air, in any event.
