Riggins Flyin
Bruce and I flew the beautiful Riggins sites among the many canyons surrounding the area. Bruce was the star of the weekend along with another pilot. We enjoyed our stay and flew three new sites, landed in the High School Football field and enjoyed the great hospitality of the Riggins people.

La Trip West Sunday Aug 26
Sunday AUg 26. Good forecast for the day so Sugar Mtn was the call in northern California. I launched first in a nice cycle and got up to two thousand over and thought it would be a no brainer to stay up. Found myself sinking while waiting around launch for Bruce to launch. As Bruce got off and slow...

Randolph Utah (The Crawfords) We arrived in plenty of time for a noon sled with Falcons and paraglider before the forecast 13 mph winds turned into howling south crosswinds at up to 40 mph. We napped in the truck with our higher performance gliders set up over the back until things got reasonable ju...

Walden CO We spent a couple of days at Sparky's taking care of vehicle issues (truck A/C, trailer tires). Went out to the local scooter tow operation and learned a lot but didn't fly because of switchy light wind at altitude. Met a youn French woman who is learning to use scooter tow - turned out he...

We spent Friday night in Boise and got a tour of Lisa's glass studio. Saturday we drove to King Mtn, but did not fly due to the overdevelopment. On Sunday, I took a morning sled on the PG, then we went back up for an evening glass-off. I flew the PG and took pix. Even at 6:30pm, the lift was a bit '...

Congratulations to the Gardinator! There can be some tough competition with a home court advantage out there. Who won first? Just curious if I know the pilot. Ashley Ray Berger, local Oregonian, tool first place with a time of 62 minutes. I understand that Ray flew 140 miles yesterday. Hey Ashley, ...

Lakeview
On Sunday, we diverted to Lakeview due to high winds at Tahoe. Stopped at Doherty Slide and observed winds > 35mph. Found a nail in one of the trailer tires, so we unloaded the Highlander and limped into Lakeview. On Monday we went to Sugar Hill. I snapped a pic of a mature bald eagle. Mark Gardner ...

Steamboat Springs to POTM
On Saturday, we flew Steamboat Springs. This is a ski resort site and access is restricted to vehicles with special permits. We were fortunate to catch a ride with one of the local pilots. Launch is a flat slope launch at 10.3k msl and the LZ is in a small park at 6.8k msl. Cloudbase was 21.5k msl a...

Day at Cumberland
I was thinking that it would be a good day to go XC on Friday. So I got my friend Tom McGowan to go With me and we had a driver and we ultimately decided to go to Cumberland, High Point. The Wind was getting stronger and I wanted to get off as soon as possible. So we set up did all the necessary cho...

Lauren, I don't know if this is the place to say this or not but here goes any way. My thoughts are that the fear that I have with flying is not the launch (because I decide when I want to launch) or the flying (because I'm away from the ground) it is the landing and if I want to fly midday there ma...
