Re: WW F4 195, HES Cocoon & Pod, 2 LARA Chutes ($3750)

Hi Aron, Apologies for the delayed response. I was at the beach for a few days and incommunicado. The chutes are actually High Energy Quantum QS440s w/ paraswivels. They're in perfect shape and have been kept dry and indoors. $914 each new. I'm asking $750 each or $1400 for both. Local pickup only. ...

Re: WW F4 195, HES Cocoon & Pod, 2 LARA Chutes ($3750)

For some reason, I can't edit my own posts, which is highly annoying... Not sure why... Anyway, the WW F4 195 is sold. I still have a really nice HES cocoon and pod. I also still have two, High Energy Quantum QS440 reserve chutes w/ paraswivels. And I have a refurbished Flytech 6020. All are being v...

Training Hills

I'm assuming that Smithsburg and Kirshners are planted by now. Any club plans or interest in figuring out a way to maintain Taylors for the season? I've freed up my weekends from whitewater kayaking to focus on getting back in the air.

Re: Anyone Been Up To Kirshners This Winter?

Thanks Nick. I appreciate your insight into the condition. The winds haven't been cooperating with my schedule lately, and I was hoping Kirshners might be an option. Hopefully, I'll be able to get to Smithsburg or Taylors a few times before spring, but so far it hasn't worked out for me.

Anyone Been Up To Kirshners This Winter?

Just curious if anyone knows the current condition of Kirshner's Knob. I'm curious if it's clear like it was this time last year. I know the "LZ" for the N hill gets pretty muddy after a rain.

Anyone been by Kirshners to see what they planted this year and whether it's been harvested? I know the bottom of the hill there can get swampy. Looks like training opportunities are opening back up for the HG pilots. Yay!

Yes! If the opportunity does present itself, and the club does decide on some sort of group ownership purchase, I’d be interested in hearing the details.

Re: Flying and site maintenance at Bills Hill this weekend

I'm down to support on Sun. Let me know what time. I assume the loc of Bill's Hill is in the site guide. As an H2, I'm in desperate need of safe launching and particularly landing sites, especially for "high flight" practice. If only I could hit the Mega Millions... Lol.

I wish I could've been there for one of your last classes. Thanks again for all the top notch instruction. You deserve instructor of the quarter century plus as far as I'm concerned (not just 2012). The grass doesn't grow as quickly and the traffic isn't as bad during the cooler months... :) It's to...

Taylors 5/25

If anyone is interested in joining me for a hill training day at Taylors this coming Friday, let me know. (Weather permitting, of course...) I want to at least set up my glider, do some ground handling, ground runs then see if I can work my way to the top of the hill, slowly of course. I haven’t had...

Re: Cutting trees at Pulpit

Maybe a two-day weekend affair? Maybe a fly-in? I won't be able to make it both days, and I can't do a lot of heavy lifting. But I'll help however I can for one of those days. I still have free flying plans in my future despite being majorly distracting by white water kayaking right now. Mainly, I'm...

Re: Taylors Mon 2/19

The mist cleared around 1:30-ish. Conditions were mostly light and cross from the SSW with some good cycles straight in. It was just two of us. I got a few and my bro got several solid flights. I was glad to have a “makeup” day since I couldn’t make it to Smithsburg yesterday.

Re: Options for Sat27Jan?

Smithsburg is looking less likely for 1/28. If the rain stops, Kirshners may be an option on 1/28, but it'll likely be a swamp based on what I saw when it was frozen on 1/14. I'm still focused on the training hill. I'm looking for two more back-to-back weeks of hill training then a nearly perfect so...

Good day at Taylors... steady 5-7 SSE w/ S cycles... mostly cross but with really good cycles coming straight up the hill... a little switchy and buoyant... strangely like spring... solid flights had by all three pilots... good times...
