Re: Pulpit Wind Station

Ward, I *think* I got the wind directions for the yellow zone right from the old site guide but I may have made a mistake. I'll review and make changes soon, very easily done. We started down this path some years ago with a station that Patric Terry brought back from Europe and handed to me at a clu...

Looking Ediths but making the call early in the morning. Hope to be at launch around 10 ish in keeping with the Tomism of "be in the air by 11 or don't waste your time".

I may go. I'm looking at this or maybe Blue Mountain tomorrow. Last time we were there launch was "OK" but a little weed wacking never hurts.

Krista and I are heading to Blue Mountain Saturday morning arriving early to Kite and use the practice hill then hope to launch for thermal/ridge flying around 11pm. Anyone going please touch base with Terry Bono at Pennsylvania Paragliding to sign a waiver and pony up 10 bucks or join the club up t...

It was nice meeting you! I'm building three more Kobo/XC Soar devices which make nice GPS/Vario/Flight Computer/keep out of airspace devices. I only need one of them so let me know if you are interested in one in PM. The radio a lot of us use is this one: http://amzn.to/1h2gpAC Hope to fly with you ...

Re: Pulpit Wednesday August 12th

I was one of the ones who flew across Fort Valley, tanked up on the far ridge and into the valley beyond (Shenandoah Valley?). Austin was the other. It's a hard retrieve from Woodstock with Google Maps showing an hour either going North on 340 (once you hike to 340) to Front Royal and around that wa...

In case you missed it

Quietly slipped into the club affairs sub forum but important enough to shout from every mountain top (appropriately).

Re: NOTICE TO CHGPA MEMBERS

Awesome news Patrick! Thanks for everything you do for our sport and our club. I know that the hours you've put into writing grants and negotiating with government entities way outweighs your flying hours this year.

Somehow "thanks" doesn't cover it but...

Thanks!

Re: Dickey's yesterday

I had my personal best XC in VA! The best way I can describe flying cross country by paraglider is that it's a sense of childlike exploration combined with the closest thing to flying like a bird that humans have managed to achieve. I just can't get enough of it. The day at Daniels had it's ups and ...

Re: Woodstock Wed

Walt your take-off was well timed and executed and your landing was safe. What I saw of your flying was perfect particularly hanging in there in the beginning and making it work.

Re: Cross Dressing

Thanks Marc, there might have been some sound effects if it had not been for the school bus dumping kids out right below. ;) I recently had SIV with this wing and the spring XC flying in Florida sure got my bump tolerance up. There are now two schools of thought on handling asymmetrical deflations. ...

Re: Woodstock Wed

After flubbing a couple launches I balled it up to wait for a little softer conditions. I was able to help (and learn) with Walt's launch and then with John. They both took off expertly. Then I took my time and watched the cycles and timed my launch in a nice lull. I flew for 20 minutes in abundant ...

Re: Wed (3/18/2015) @ Woodstock

What a great community of pilots we have and what an awesome flight I had! Just luck of the draw that I got off just before it went cross. There was lift everywhere! Landing just to the west of I-81 at the water tower was a real treat having fought my way up wind. I have some video to get up. I had ...

Re: Woodstock tomorrow the 28th

I also rode my motorcycle. I made it as far as 50 and 295 and had a flat tire. I got towed to a shop and got repaired and had *maybe* enough time to get a hike up and short evening flight. 66 West was severely constipated though and so I had to give up and ride home.

Re: Woodstock tomorrow the 28th

Still looks really good for PG tonight (knock on wood). Yeah, I also figure the road will be closed and not in a mood to risk it on the moto with even patches of ice. But if it's open then at least I got a shot at a ride with the hitch hike sign. :)

Some PGs and at least one HG heading for daniels. I'll have the front rack for the truck and Billie's having a HG hauling truck as well and if Randy is there that would be three. Looks like it could be a fun day. I went a couple days ago and I was the only one but had a great flight. The house therm...

Re: Blue Mountain Monday

Monday and Tuesday were great flying days at Blue Mountain! I did see some Hang Gliders there on Monday soaring nicely at the end of the day. I got a very brief XC on Tuesday. Nothing epic but a PB for me. https://www.facebook.com/ThatBoatGuy/media_set?set=a.10206446642111724.1073741857.1439245863&a...
