Re: First Mountain Flight Since...

It really is a great site. the hike up is pretty killer, though. It's nice on days when the Pulpit is crowded, though, since it has the same orientation. And yeah, as the comment on the video says, I still need to work on my technique. Looking at the movies helps me highlight my inadequacies and try...

First Mountain Flight Since...

...I broke my back last year. The video is somewhat infamous. Whatever. Thought I'd post up a link to my first mountain flight since last year. I flew a few times towing, but it's just not the same. I still have plenty to learn, but I'm not giving up. http://youtu.be/7AL8jTLMWUo Enjoy. (The flight o...

PG Crash/Serious Injury

Just heard from one of my buddies that went up to Jersey to tow with Penn Paragliding. One of the students crashed on a tow. Serious injury. Got helo'd out. Local news showed up, so we'll probably find out more this evening.

Blue Mountain Ski

Hey,
If anyone is interested, Terry Bono got permission to fly Blue Mountain again tomorrow. Conditions look perfect. If anyone wants to fly something new, shoot me a message, and I'll get you Terry's number. (I have prior arrangements, so unfortunately I won't be flying.)

Blue skies!

Re: Must View/Read for PGer’s or anyone thinking of going PG

Ward, To be sure, I wasn't implying that you were being, in any way, elitist, and I apologize if that's how it came across. Overall, I was just commenting on an attitude that I had noticed in our community (not this forum, but the sport) that seemed to pit HGs vs. PGs. The comments on that video see...

Re: Must View/Read for PGer’s or anyone thinking of going PG

The more I hang out with the HG/PG world, the more I see a marked elitism by each group. In my opinion, it accomplishes very little. We're all gliders, and we all love what we do, so why try to point out the flaws with each other's systems? We've each made our decision as to which we prefer, and it ...

Re: Father's Day Fly-In: Blue Mtn. Ski Area

Pete, Alright, crossing my fingers for a 180 degree shift in wind. For anyone who wants to go fly regardless of wind direction, the training field is located at 40.756555,-75.068378 If the wind is still South, we should have great conditions. I have room in my car for a PGer (sorry, HGers. RSXs are ...

Re: Father's Day Fly-In: Blue Mtn. Ski Area

Pete, Right now the forecast is looking like solid south winds. There is a south site on Blue mtn, but we will most likely be going to the field in Washington, NJ (it's only 15 mins away). North/south is the best for the field, since it gives us (PGers, at least) a solid tow to 1k AGL on the regular...

Re: Father's Day Fly-In: Blue Mtn. Ski Area

Mark, both HGs and PGs are invited and encouraged to attend. The launch is North facing, but the wide grassy slopes provide a healthy bit of leeway. (The large asphalt parkinglot NW of launch provides the house thermal, in case little lift is coming upslope.) The field 2mi NE of Merrill Creek Reserv...

Re: Father's Day Fly-In: Blue Mtn. Ski Area

They're not running lifts, but they've allowed Terry to use the access road to the top of the mtn so you can drive your HG in.

Re: Hang glider crash in Peters Township, Franklin Co?

Well, I wish I could be joining this board on a happier note, but such is life. I'm the pilot lucky enough to have endured the crash. Yes, I'm a novice pilot. Yes, I have things I need to work on. Yes, I'm going to continue flying. Apparently I just have an affinity to learning the hard way. Hindsig...
