Re: dat Forecast!
Very cold at Woodstock launch today. A foreign pilot/new P-2 managed to launch into 8-12mph prevailing, with gusts to 18mph AND snow flurries. Her name is Xiaoting, from mainland China, she had a 30 minute frigid flight. I would like to welcome her as a new CHGPA member and fellow pilot. Pete Humes ...

Re: Woodstock Tues 2/12
Not to beat a dead horse, and not wanting to get on the wrong side of other pg pilots and/or students. My experience with those carpets, in addition to them being "out of place" there, is that I have slipped on them numerous times while helping either one of my students, or another pilot l...

Re: Woodstock Tues 2/12
I'm inclined to agree with the "carpets are unsightly" rhetoric. I say, if you can't launch from a natural environment, then you shouldn't be launching, pg or hg. Maybe until the proposed gravel is laid, Ws should be considered strictly a P-3 site. Sorry fellow P-2's and students, but expe...

Hang Gliding Record segment on TWC
It's 6am Wednesday morning, I'm watching The Weather Chanel and they just said there will be a segment on "the Hang Gliding World record flights of the two pilots who flew side by side to make that record." Dustin Martin and Jonny Durand. It was only a 2 minute segment. Oh well.

I'll be there anyway this weekend. I already have a few current and potential students meeting me at the Pulpit on Saturday. I work my regular job the weekend of 9/22-23, so I can't make it. I hope you have a good fly-in.

Rattlesnake at Bill's Hill
There is a Timber rattlesnake (Crotalus horridus) that lives under the large, flat, light brown, rock to the left of launch. Be careful when in the area, it's a big snake with a loud rattle sound. This type of snake can be dangerous because of it's striking range(size), long fangs, and high yield of...

Matt, those are NOT pre-requisites for ATTENDING the course. They are ONLY needed to get signed-off for the course after you get the First-aid & CPR.

USFS chain saw class
For those who are an-aware; There is a chain saw safety class this weekend, conducted by the USFS in Edinburg, VA. So far, there will be only 3 club members in attendance. You DO NOT need a chain saw OR have any previous chain saw experience to attend. Just 7" leather boots, gloves, obvious saf...

USHPA also requires all instructors to be current in first aid certification. I've been certified for over 11 years now. I can't seem to find the application for this chainsaw course on line. I am free the weekend of 2/17-18, am Red Cross certified in first aid, and have a few chain saws to bring if...

Betty wants to be there the day before (Friday) then I think she wants to start as earlier as possible 8:00-9:00am, the clinic will be 8-10hrs long. Wew have most of what she needs, but she did request a old control bar. I don't have that, anyone else have an old control bar?
