Re: Smithsburg Saturday Afternoon Jan. 30th
Nice day five gliders, seven people flew, Mark got six flights. It was L&V most of the afternoon, but some good cycles. I think Anthony had a student make his first flight.

Re: Flying on Sun26July
Six pilots showed up, only three prepared to fly.
Tom, Charley, and Anthony took off through the afternoon about an hour apart.
All had clean launches and soared for over an hour. When I left around 6 PM, Anthony was still boating around in what looked like smooth evening lift.

Taylor's March 8
I'm curious about how Smithsburg worked out on Saturday. The forecast for I saw looked pretty ugly.
Taylor' on Sunday looks more my style, SW at less than 10mph all day.

SB Friday or Taylor's Saturday
Having missed the last two weekends, I'm still looking for a good day on the hill.
Anybody else up for Friday or Saturday?
Also, did anyone find my black 'Freefligh Foundation' jacket at Taylor's?

Eric,
Do you still have your HES Cocoon?
If so what size is it?

Re: Smithsburg Sunday Jan. 26th
I'm interested in flying Smithsburg, but I won't know until Saturday if I'm available.
Also, I let my USHPA membership expire for three years and all my ratings expired, so I need to talk to someone about getting some signoffs.

Re: Remote Windmeter DIY
Get a slotted optical detector like an OPB990 (search DigiKey.com). put a tab (or two) on the anemometer so that it passes through the slot in the optical detector. The tab should be long enough so that the detector slot is blocked for half of the rotation, i.e. you want a square wave output form th...

Re: Pulpit Sunday 11/15
I just looked at XC Skies (12:30 AM). Around McConnelsburg it shows the 2000ft winds NW and increasing through the day 10kt at 9AM, 12kt at noon, 16 at 3PM. Cloud cover is around 30% early in the day increasing to 50% by 3PM, all high level stuff. Ridgely looks like 40-50% cloud cover all day with a...
