Re: BAD Launch!
Windsock at the bottom of the slot? My concern, along with Bacil, is running into a pothole. Wind seems to be straight and right wing is a little lifted, but once off the end he drops and turns. I tried to see if the "bottom" sock is still there but cannot make it out. For me, that sock gi...

Renew your Call Sign
Hi All, Just happened upon some reason to check my ham license and guess what! It would have expired the next day. I did not change my address when I moved so maybe you all got renewal forms but if not. It was a fairly easy re-apply and my new license arrived in less than a week... So just a reminde...

Re: Waggoners Gap
I drove by there last fall. Many fences around all the antennae. Lots of no tresspassing signs. Narrow road with not alot of parking. Pretty view. Lots of ridge and apparent landing options. I talked with someone last fall about it but cannot remember what happened to the site????? joe (freezing in ...

Ball M50 vario
This is a boat anchor. It makes up for its weight by being very good. The analog vario does not work very often. Audio has been fairly consistent. Altimeter and Airspeed work. Software downloading doesn't work anymore but I still have all of it. It was sent to Ball for a tune up and I could not tell...

But, I was on Google maps and it looks like a short ridge that also faces s with about the same verticle drop just north and east of Wells Tannery. Looks like a flat top. Anyone ever check it out?

Re: WIND TURBINES at Woodstock Massanutten GW forest.
What about the trees? Don't we get warned about cutting trees near the edge of our slot? I guess that wind farms, in the name of green energy, get to wipe out big swaths of trees. Can they make as many access roads and powerline cuts as they would need right through national forests? What kind of ea...

Re: Repack Option
PS.
Maybe a location near the mountains (Winchester/McConnelsburg) would be better for us non-towheads.

Re: Repack Option
CHGPA is still planning on a repack. I can do mine in about an hour in my living room. Fluffing and test deployment are extra time but the fun and experience is worth it. I guess we should try to get it done sooner seeing the temps are rising. Matthew? How many were interested in the first repack? I...
