Re: How much do you fly at Highland? Purchase Tows in Advanc
Dave, that's very true. But it does help some and if that's how someone wants to help then it's certainly a good thing. It just may not be the most efficient way of helping. I suggest anyone wanting to help them out talk with them... and realize that you're going to have to be pushy :) They aren't a...

Re: How much do you fly at Highland? Purchase Tows in Advanc
I've thought of this as well, and I really want to help them out. I think it was appropriate for us to think of Keavy first, and delay addressing the material loss. However, I'm sure the loss of the dragonfly is a substantial loss for Highland, and in a business that they obviously do for love of fr...

I'm shocked like most of you. I can't believe she's gone. She was so passionate about flying and it was uplifting just to be around her. I didn't know her long but I wanted to know more about her, so I found this: http://www.aopa.org/asf/publications/inst_reports2.cfm?article=5290 Sounds like Keavy....

Re: Roof rack and transporting a hang glider on a Celica
I have a 2D coupe mustang, and I bought a Yakima rack system with a "stretch" system. These allow the rear bar to be placed further back on a 2 door car and gives you better stability. I don't know if it's really necessary but it gives me some peace of mind. Then I put a ladder on top of t...

Re: Flying 7/18-19
I had my longest flight ever... 2hrs 40 min =P It was a lot of fun, at times it was similar to the convergence flight I had. I spent a lot of time at cloud base, got to 5800. It was chilly. The clouds did some interesting things at times with columns of mist. I did some wingovers and flew with lots ...

Family Flying
This last weekend my father, mother, and brother came to visit me. We did the usual 4th stuff in D.C. but the highlight of their trip was them coming to hang glide! I tried my best to fly with them but was getting pretty discouraged. My mother went up first, and I got lift under a cloud, but it was ...

Re: Ridgely June 14
By the way I found an interesting article about how the sea breeze and cloud streets interact: http://www.atmos.ucla.edu/~fovell/ASres/sbfhcr/sbfhcr.html This sounds exactly like what was happening, as they were forming in a line. So, this means that optimal conditions for this sort of thing should ...
