Re: Tim Donovan, Sad News

Just got off the phone with a buddy of Tim's. Seems like he didn't have much time in the new wing, and was flying with water for one of the first times. He may have never spun it with ballast.
I know what Woody would say:
Shit.

Re: Paul's a tow pilot; and other Quest flying

Re: Woodstock Tues 10-21

Thanks Tom! You continue to be a calm voice of reason and experience. Excellent discussion, complete with new guy questions and older, "big dog" pilots weighing in. While being at a flying site with a glider greatly increases the likelihood of actually flying, it doesn't mean you HAVE to l...

Re: Daniels Sunday

Hey Guys- Sorry I missed you. Seems like I spend a lot of time chasing kids to sporting events these days... Joe--I probably wouldn't launch in anything over about 15, but the texture is important. Back in the day, when the Bermuda High set up, Daniels could be counted on for cocktail hour wonder wi...

Re: Daniels Sunday

I had trouble logging in or I could perhaps have saved you guys the trip. Local forecast Sunday Morning showed gusts to 30, TAF for C'ville showed gusts to 22kts. A bit much, even for Daniels. And a west cross can really stand you on your nose. Glad everyone had basically uneventful flights, but ple...

Re: Pounding in at Pulpit 6/15

Thanks Tom! Once again you are a calm voice of experience in a sea of increasingly suspect judgements... Just as one approach won't work for every field, one technique won't necessarily work for every situation. Staying current involves learning and practicing many approaches and landing strategies-...

Re: My (first) tree landing

Hello all--I'm a longtime lurker here and a Daniel's veteran. Thought I'd come out of the shadows and weigh in-- First of all, Janni's candor is to be applauded. Learning from each other's mistakes is key. End of story. I'd also like to applaud his post with regards to his conversation with Nelson. ...
