Woodstock Saturday

I realize the High Rock fly-in is happening and I don't mean to undermine that, but social obligations (and my birthday!) are keeping me home Fri night and Sat night. Further, right now, the winds at elevation are looking a bit intimidating at High Rock for my Falcon, but really sweet at Woodstock, ...

Re: Pulpit Fri, 9/10?

Thanks Bacil - useful info for the weekend / fly-in, but I was actually asking for your opinion on tomorrow - Friday. Can you toss out any thoughts on that?

Pulpit Fri, 9/11?

I realize the fly-in may get moved since Sat and Sun aren't looking so good, but I am wondering if - fly-in or no fly-in - anyone is thinking tomorrow (Friday) looks promising / plan to be there. Esp would like to hear prognostication from Bacil! It looks a little on the light side, but Pulpit blows...

Re: Woodstock 10/19

Is the bridge field available for landing or will we likely be landing in the primary LZ? I'm loading up - hoping for at least a short flight as I have to be out of the air by 2:30 to be loaded up and heading home by 4 pm for a 5:30 family function this evening. Will bring my dirt bike to self-retri...

Woodstock Thursday?

I know it has been flown this summer - but very few postings.

I'm thinking Thursday could work - for weather conditions and my schedule - all of which could change between now and then. In any case, sure would like to hear if others are headed that way (in general, and Thursday in particular).

Re: Options for Thurs07Aug

I'll be kayaking - I've done it before - it is at the "top of my game" and was very fun. Locally Little Falls is great, but the LY is just amazing (for me).

Sorry to bail, but got a chance to join a group and paddle the Lower Youghigenny and am grabbing it - won't be able to fly after all.

grass strip between fields.jpg
I took a few pictures before leaving. Assuming I succeed in uploading it, this is the strip between the fields, and in the left foreground is the barn/shed the owner came out of as I walked glider out. I cam to a stop just as the fencing along the corn began.

Re: Keeping an eye on Friday July 25

I do want to observe that I don't 'wish I hadn't come out to fly' today. Certainly had someone told me in advance I'd have to plan to land in a strip of green less than a wings-width between two fields with 3+ foot high crops, I would have declined the opportunity. But, at the end of the day, I felt...

Re: Keeping an eye on Friday July 25

Ummmm ... no - I can't report any great flight by a HG, although I think the PG group had some very good ones. I heard someone landed at Clear Spring and others launched and looked good. When I left at 3pm Jon had not yet launched and I don't know if he decided to fly / if conditions changed or not....

Re: Dullahan ECC Accident Report

John,

So, sooo sorry to hear of your significant injury. But, yes, you are right. Given the point of impact so, sooo happy it wasn't worse - no TBI, you are walking, HURRAY! I'm wishing for continued good news on your recovery progress.

Re: How long will it take me?

It wasn't until your last post that I saw you were not learning on training hills. If you are doing your training at Blue Sky, and your goal is to also fly the mountains, at some point you will need some training hill time. Perhaps Steve offers that as well, I am not sure. In any case, I actually li...

Sport 2 155 for $800

I bought this at the end of Aug 2011 from Hugh McElrath before he headed to the Philippines. He estimated he had put about 10 hours on it, but it was originally Steve Kinsley’s, then Janni’s, then Ellis’. I flew it that fall of 2011 and each of the past two summers putting a total of 13.5 hours on i...

Multiple candidates running for Region IX Director

Reposting with new title - realized that 'shout out to vote' might make people think I am talking politics. So ... ... too late for the Government elections ... but not too late for USHPA Region 9! I just got my magazine, and found inside that Region 9 is a contested election ... and one of the cand...

Shout out to vote!

... too late for the Government ones ... but not too late for USHPA Region 9! I just got my magazine, and found inside that Region 9 is a contested election ... and one of the candidates is our own Hugh! Nice to have the representative be a local! Last week I got the envelope in the mail with the 'e...
