Re: Keeping an eye on Friday July 25

grass strip between fields.jpg and in the left foreground is the barn/shed the owner came out of as I walked glider out. I cam to a stop just as the fencing along the corn began. Nice write up Valerie, and nice job on the landing. Seems I remember that dent in the shed... for some strange reason. ;-)

The only video for this day that came out was of Bruce E launching his 225. Sorry folks. The one of my ground handling problem was too zoomed in to make sense of.

I thought there was a 'Tony' but I'm a little bad with names. I appoligize if I called you Tony, Randy
There was a Tony there... due to a ground handling error resulting in a torn leading edge... he opted not to fly  .

Good Luck at Big Spring Tom and Dave...

... I was heading home on 66W today and saw a green Toyota pickup with 4 gliders heading west. I looked for a flag to see if they might be headed to Woodstock... but soon saw that the gliders were packed for a trip. I beeped and waved, then shortly after Dave called and told me their plans.... along...

Re: Blue Sky / Thur: and Fri 7-1 and 7-2

Driving down to BlueSky Friday morning, it was like Larry Bunner said... be ready by 11AM. Of course I was still driving, but the sky looked fantastic. Arrived at BS around 1230... sky still looking good. I think the first truck tow was around 1345ish by Craig who reported nothing but sink, with bum...

Re: Pulpit 5/30

Showed up at Ridgely around noon thirty or so. Launched around 1430 and managed to thermal around the field for about 45 minutes before getting flushed. Many club pilots were there. McGowan, Bunner, Proctor, Carlos, Batman. The top guns headed south. No idea if they managed to win that keg of beer f...

Congrats Dan!!! Way Cool.

Glad to hear Peter Kane was able to make it. I know he's been itching to get to Woodstock for quite some time.

Sounds like it was a great day!!!

Still pretty squirrely out here... about 20 miles north of Woodstock. Lots of sporadic tree movement. And rather chilly, too.

BlueSky Friday

Managed to escape work today and headed to BlueSky. The wind direction was cross and it was hard making a decision which way to launch... most of the day we launched from the S-N direction. Later in the day N-S seemed best. I was the first to tow and released at 800ft right into a thermal that took ...

Re: Flying New Years Day?

Getting close to go/nogo decision time...

Not sure Woodstock is a valid option today. Here in Stephens City it's at a dead calm and I haven't seen the trees out back budge this AM. Woodstock is definitely not an option for me if the road is closed...

Anyone going to go???

Re: Pulpit Sunday 12/6

I arrived shorty after 1030AM to see 3 crazy pilots setting up their hang gliders in 28 degree weather. It was too friggin cold for me to setup, so I was going to do the fetch pilots thing. After a trip to the LZ to drop off cars I decided to go ahead and setup (It was much warmer in the LZ). The sh...

Re: Dickey Ridge Sunday

Apparently the park is having problems with poachers (bear and ginseng mentioned on the local news). They're trying to concentrate their efforts on patrolling the perimeter and catching the idiots. Park is closed after dark until hunting season ends. Probably why they want us to patrol ourselves.

Re: Pulpit Sunday 11/15

Went to Highland with about 6 other HG pilots, 2 that I knew were Hugh Mc and John Dullahan. I did 3 tows. The first one was the worst... lots of PIO. Too embarrassed to post a video. Control improved with each successive tow, although far from flawless. Looking forward to next season and working on...
