WW U2 160 $2200K
Selling 2007 WW U2 160 for $2200k in Charlottesville. Has been kept in climate controlled garage for last 3 years without seeing daylight. Probably less than 50 total hours. Mainly flown at BS and WS. Flies great. Not suited for me anymore as I have 2 lil kids now and not flying at all, will downgra...

Re: Silent Airshow 04/20/13 at North Mountain Vineyards
Dammit Jesse, I was going to make a 4/20 joke...anyways....launched around 4:20 in relatively lighter cycles than earlier. Easily got several hundred over launch in ridge lift. The bowls were collecting thermals well in the west cross and I ventured out into the valley without anything working reall...

Re: Woodstock Tomorrow? (Wednesday 12/05)
got about 80 minute flight. launched about 20 minutes after John M, it started to lighten up on launch quite a bit but the lift was smooth and fairly strong out front. Generally stayed south of launch, staying 800-1000 over and going down to the Edinburg Gap point got me to 3200', which i got to aga...

Re: Woodstock on Sunday 8/28
sorry to hear about the leg Chuck. Glad you are now fixed and OK!! from thousands of lessons at KHK, i've seen many pilot flare big/early and bring the bar back in. not a good idea. sand is forgiving but it generally results in a epic pile in and sometimes facial/head injury. better leg injury than ...

Re: Flying on Friday Oct 22
Shuffled my way into the slot with the help of the "pro snowboarder" hanging out about 3:45, last one left on the hill. went to turn on vario after hang check and it was dead. Had batteries in my harness but not the patience to dig them out and put them in. oh well. launched into a light b...

Re: Road trip! Boone, NC
i am considering heading down there hearing that there is some other pilots making the trek. I flew there in 06 and can attest for it's sheer awesomeness. Going to watch the weather and make a decision closer to the weekend.

i would be in. tater is an amazing site. big wide grassy fun launch and beautiful view. even top landable with some caution. bubba is as top notch site manager as they come. boone has lots of great restaurants too. however, local chicks may be a little hairy.

Showed up around 3:30 to a cold and gusty 15-20 in the slot and three pilots soaring. Got set up and heard Bacil got thrashed around so waited. winds backed off a touch just after 5pm, so gave it a go. Got up 700 feet over the ridge quickly and hooked into a boomer to 3k over but back down quickly i...

Re: 2 point vs. 3 point tow
if you have ever tried to pro tow any slow glider (single surface, 11m pulse, large sonic, etc) it is do-able, but really uncomfortable and can take ALOT of muscle to pull off, especially when it's rowdy. Generally it's not a pleasurable experience. I towed my 11m pulse midday in big spring in tx an...

Blue Sky sunday 6/7
good turnout sunday at blue sky. everyone trucked towed. peter k, sonic bob, coz, andrew, john, ray, mike from cville. The forecast showed 2-300 up, winds were light south. Peter towed up first around 12:30 and scratched in 50-75 up around 1000ft for 30 min before getting up. He eventually specked o...

Re: Kitty Hawk Kites - No More?
well the word through the KHK grapevine of retired instructors is that KHK is moving the towing operation to a private field about 25 minutes closer to the beach. The new field is not an airport, just a big field, and wouldn't have other traffic to deal with, and is larger and on the main road and w...
