Flying in Germany

Dear all, god, it's been so long and there are so many new names here that I can't put faces to. Anyway, thought I would let you guys know I'm still alive and almost 4 years after leaving the states I'm still trying to get back to where I left off HG-wise. John Dullahan told me that flying in German...

Re: 'Spark

Hey guys, broken bones wherever you look. WTF is going on? My best wishes to Spark and Hugh, real bummer. I THINK when I have a weak flare it is because I have pushed OUT in a flare, versus push UP - or at least that is the way it feels. I watch this and say "yes - he is pushing out, not up, ju...

I would probably choose a median with no traffic far and wide over brush and trees.
Glad to see Mr. Pagen agrees with most of us.

Re: Woodstock?

I support Tom because he's a hell of a pilot and would never sink so low as to insult other pilots on a forum, even if he had the facts right. It's so hypocritical, I can't take it. He made a tough call and I applaud him for that in agreement with Marc that the risk of that landing causing a highway...

Re: Woodstock?

Extracting everything from a day to achieve an epic flight is the stuff pilots like Tom are made of. And it can't always be done without pushing the envelope, taking chances. You may not like it, you may sit in your armchair with a computer in your lap talking about the 3 P's, but boy-oh-boy, it ain...

Re: Monday

Sorry to hear about your accidents guys. Emma Jane's field can be a bitch to land in on certain days, especially on higher performance gliders. Anyway, that's what you get for sneaking out to fly. So, how are you going to explain sustaining complex fractures in your arms and ankles from irritable bo...

Sad News

Mike Norman kindly asked me to post this: It is with regret that I must report the passing of Santos H. Mendoza, a local hang glider pilot and instructor, and a past member of CHGPA and MHGA beginning in 1980. Santos passed away on Friday, November 27, after a courageous battle with congestive heart...

Auf Wiedersehen Ihr Lieben

Dear friends and fellow pilots, I’m not a big fan of lengthy good-byes so I’ll keep it brief. Big thanks to Carlos for being a good friend and providing a nice and convenient home for my HG. I’m sorry I didn’t get to say good-bye but my last few days were extremely busy and swamped with last minute ...

Re: High Rock Fly-in in peril?

Look guys, you've almost come around 100% of my way of thinking. Let me give you one more little push here :D What does Emma Jane care if you fly HR or the Pulpit as long as you have your party in the HR LZ, spend time with her and and make donations. Pick a weekend that looks like it's going to be ...

Re: High Rock; Steps, Grate, and Cats (Galore!)

Why are you leaving again? I heard through the grapevine you guys want to have a real party, one which I wasn't welcome to. Christy Huddle called the state department and homeland security telling them I had something big planned with my HG. Carlos bought the plane ticket and, to my biggest disappo...

Re: High Rock; Steps, Grate, and Cats (Galore!)

Cat orgy part 2. This humanitarian effort must not die. We need more volunteers to catch and sterilize those cats. It is of utmost importance that Emma Jane continues feeding them so they won't suspect anything when we appear with drop traps and sympathy. The risk of running cats over on our way to ...

Re: High Rock Fly-in in peril?

In sad times such as these of course you have to take a break and heal. I want to applaud Richard and Leigh for having spared no effort to support Emma Jane and try to make each HR Fly-In a memorable experience. At the last one, when I wasn't at my best coping with the loss of a loved one Richard go...

Congrats Larry. Your accomplishments are outright astounding. Wow. I'm glad I didn't go. I would have killed myself trying to kick your butt :D Big congrats to crew-guy Bob. Re: Woodstock windsock

How?
Bacil's problem. He volunteered :D

I suggest several overlapping PVC tubes of decreasing diameter. Well-placed screws should be used to keep them from sliding all the way into each other. Secure it by a big stake hammered into the ground and by tying it to a tree.

Re: Woodstock windsock

I'm sure there's not one pilot out there who would object to it. Just do it and see what happens. I'd pick a wind sock that is the least visible upon superficial inspection, camouflaged would be great. If you start a thread on this there is the danger of a dozen pilots unleashing a hundred dozen opi...
