Re: Wisconsin Flying

Running the gauntlet on an OD day. Had to stay out in front to work the sunlight! 11:00 would of been perfect, but ended up not able to fly until 3:00. Still a good day to be off terra firma! Edited video: http://youtu.be/aBM7Qq3Txnc

Happy July 4th!

Long time no see my friends! Seems life has finally returned to some sense of normality & I've landed on my feet in Madison, WI. I moved here last August, and have taken over as Executive Chef at a local country club, cooking & golf combined. I've finally returned the Batwing to the sky, lau...

GoPro Hang Gliding Mount?

Hey, since I'm single again ... I'm playing Santa and ordered one of the GoPro HD Cameras. For you CHPGA'ers, which mount are you using? Is it the handlebar mount or the Roll Bar mount? Dan ... what video software do you use for your HG videos?

In Phoenix!

Well, I was told to expect an offer this week. It looks like the Batwing will be flying about 1900 miles to take flight again in Phoenix. They want me to take over the position of Executive Chef around mid-July. I will try to get out flying to see you all before I go, or we will coordinate a departu...

Re: hyner memorial day: good weather

How long of a drive is it to Hyner? I'm in Hugh's boat, I have commitments on Saturday but might drive up on Sunday. I've never flown Hyner and there is a pretty good chance that I will be in Arizona by Labor Day.

Re: Woodstock 5/9

The only negative post on my part is being a participant in a forecast for declining winds, launching with a good friend and watching the winds ramp up unexpectedly and cause him to be out of flying for over a year. Nothing negative with giving respect to conditions and erring on the safe side. Alth...

Re: Woodstock 5/9

After Joe's incident on a day that was supposed to ramp down, I've learned to respect the wind more at Woodstock than I used to. Forecasts of gust to 30 is to rich for my blood. I fold ...

Pulpit Saturday?

With the forecast, I was thinking you could launch and immediately go OTB without bothering with the rest of the flying part? Any care to join me? p.s. this is only in jest, no kittens were harmed in the writing of this email ... although I have considered confit of bald eagle quite tasty .....

Re: Daniels 5/1

Well I for one stayed in my pajamas until around 1:00, then opened up a bottle of wine. After the bottle of wine, I put my pajamas back on ... Suzie didn't want me in the kitchen naked any longer .... I just couldn't get going yesterday, high cirrus cloud layer didn't excite me for Ridgely either. I...

Too much West in the forecast tomorrow for Daniels, at least for me. Will check forecast in the morning, but baring any major changes I'm shooting for Highland tomorrow if I can drag my ass out of bed...

Re: Daniels 5/1

Saturday is 10-15 SW/SSW. I will probably look at the forecast in the morning, but if its flyable I will probably head to Ridgely. A lot depends on gust factor (if any), and if I feel like 90 degree heat on the baked Eastern Shore surface. If there is a flock of pilots heading out, I will probably b...

Re: Woodstock 4/27

Congrats on your XC Dan, I wouldn't mind heading to that LZ sometime. I've landed at an LZ north of the river at Strausburg but haven't headed out to the one you were in, look like I need to head out that way and explore. Anything is better than the primary

I'm toying with Woodstock tomorrow, forecast looks gusty right now but maybe things will change. This new job has me up at 4:15am every day so there will be NOTHING early in my schedule tomorrow other than sharing some quality time with my pillow! Will see what the forecast brings in the morning.

Re: Saturday?

Finally got back into the air after my 16 month scholastic flying break. Dan, Carlos, Bacil and I showed up at Jack's along with 6 of the Pennsylvania crew. Winds were straight in and soarable. Good launch and got about a 45 minute ridge flight along with the other 9 gliders. We gave the wuffos a go...
