I ended up making my first flight off of High Rock late on Sunday. Spark was my observer. Total flight about an hour. Rich Bloomfield and Matthew also flew in the ridge lift.

Many thanks to Sparky for his excellent help as an observer at Jacks. The LZ is completely planted now. So it may not be possible to use it soon, or at least not until the band of hay is cut. I did not catch the lift on the first flight so Sparky landed and we gave it another shot. That was extremel...

Quite the crowd at Woodstock. Lots of weather changes. Something for everyone. A lot of taking down and setting back up. Carrying gliders back and forth. Hang gliders doubled as shelters Multiple sled rides after some wild weather passed. Even the cows got involved by knocking down and munching on t...

I see that you are considering flying today and tomorrow. Please give me a call so that we might discuss the options and observers. I don't have phone numbers for them.

I've been the last two years. That's where I purchased my Sonic. I'm not sure whether I will make it this year. Good time for sure.

Any chance of flying tomorrow?

Great group at Bills yesterday. Some fabulous flights by many pilots paragliders/hang gliders. Stellar weather. Launch site much improved due to the efforts of many clippers, weed wackers, chain saws....etc.

Many thanks to Matthew and Sparky for observing.

I am planning to go to Bills Hill today. I didn't hear back from Moyes concerning replacement rear batten ends for the elastic cord. If anyone going to Bills has a spare that I could use I will gladly replace yours. I have a Sonic and drive a beige Toyota Tocoma pickup with a black camper shell. It ...

That was quite the hang gliding/paragliding festival on Saturday. The weather was incredible. The pilots were all very supportive and friendly. I would like to thank Matthew McGraham for his assist as my observer walking the LZ, batten tip repair, and pre-launch. Trust me, always have spare batten t...

Re: Request for an observer

I am interested in another mtn launch. My first one was at Woodstock. If there are any observers that may be able to assist, I am in need indeed. I am a H-2. I hope it is appropriate to put out a general request of this nature on the listserv.

I'm on Harpers Ferry Rd near the Volunteer Fire Department for Neersville 2 miles from the river.

The weather is rather unruly today.

If all goes well I should be making my second mtn. flight soon.

Re: Hey Scott W.

Scott, Thanks for the encouragment. I was away on spring break. Woodstock was a dream come true. I have stood on that mtn. side many times and wondered if I would ever fly off. The conditions were good for a launch. It went like any practice launch with air moving straight in. I would have soared lo...

Re: first mtn flight

I am a H-2 pilot with AT and FL rating looking to make that first mtn flight. I worked extensively with Rich Hays last year and have continued to practice launchings and landings on my own at Smithsburg, Cow-pie and Long Green. I am interested in communicating with willing observers. I will be glad ...
