Wrapping up a month in Southern California. Got a lot of good flying. The San Diego club uses an app called Telegram for coordinating flying activities. It seems to work well.

Crestline Ca Hook in failure
I launched Crestline earlier that day in a PG. Visiting pilot on borrowed glider seen crashed on the ridge west of Crestline launch. Initial reports were of glider upside down with broken wing and no sign of pilot. 911 dialed and Crest Forest Station 25 responded in force: https://m.youtube.com/watc...

Re: any HG in WS today (6/2/2017)
I flew PG at WS yesterday. Great day. I landed where the HGs have been landing . The grass is like 4 - 5 ft high. Not a problem with PG but could be with HG.

Re: Thursday flying. Nov 10
FYI: Joe Schad and I flew WS Thursday. Gary Smith set up but decided not to fly. It was ok, not great -- 800 over max.

Pulpit 11/7
Fun PG flight at the Puipit yesterday. Light north ( zero, 2, 3) but it would swing around enough to get off from thermals. Plenty of lift away from the mtn but didn't go very high (800 over). I recruited a driver at launch to come get me but that kind of cut both ways because he said he didn't want...

Pulpit Thurs 7/7
Was going to do Dickey Ridge with the HG with Joe Schad but couldn't get it up for the carry in in the heat. Then got bored in the afternoon and took the bag to the Pulpit. Launched about 4:30 Straight in at 8. Mostly cloudy but some lift down by the towers. Lift lines really. Nothing really excitin...

Daniel Mtn Weds 11/25
Surprisingly nice day at Daniel Mtn. Some strong stuff for this time of year. Everything was on the ridge. Nothing out in front. 800 over. Got cold. Landed. Relaunched with lots of clothes and gloves. Sledded. Haven't been there in a while. There is an old busted down couch on launch. Is that a pilo...

Re: Calvert Cliffs/ Gary's Beach
Also, want Gary to take a look at the launch. There are a couple of locust trees that have gotten a lot bigger. Maybe it's ok but I think I will launch 2nd or 3rd not first.

I think I will try to get there about 11:00. Shows it peaking at 2:00. I doubt it will make the forecast 17 but should be soarable all day.

Aah. Knew there was a reason you weren't there. So, who wants to fly Calvert Cliffs tomorrow? Limited openings for my wire crew but I will endeavor to accommodate everyone. No pushing or shoving please. If you haven't been to this site it is worth a day trip. Bring the wife kids girlfriend whoever. ...
