Re: HG "Crash" at HR Yesterday?

That would be me. I had a bad launch and went through the trees to the right of launch. I did not go to hospital but I did bang myself up pretty good. Banged up one knee and an elbow is pretty sore. Criagin showed up after and retrieved my instrument and most of the battens. I was too sore to help h...

I read something earlier this week about a Thurmont TFR for Oct. 19-22nd so High Rock Sunday might not be possible.

Re: Calvert cliffs this Fri

It was awesome! What a nice site! Thank you Gary for being such a great host and for giving me the complete lowdown on the site. Thanks Jesse and Gary for the launch assist. I launched at 9:00 am and flew until 10:30 am and had a blast sharing the air with Shawn and some bald eagles. Can't wait till...

Re: High Rock Friday?

I did enjoy a very nice hour+ flight from the Rock yesterday. The conditions were as smooth as any glass off flight I have ever had up to 900' over. Thank you Cragin for volunteering to follow me over to High Rock to make sure I got into the air safely. That was incredibly generous of you! Just as I...

Re: High Rock Saturday

It was a nice but cold day at the Rock. I arrived about 11:00 am and the conditions on launch were pretty light with winds averaging about 5 mph. About 1:00 pm the winds started picking up a bit and were soon coming in more like 10 mph. I launched first at 1:15 and enjoyed a nice flight for an hour ...

Re: Friday/Saturday - November 5th and 6th

Hugh, that must have been my evil twin that launched before you and Ann Marie and landed in a different field. I hate it when he does that  I myself waited for you and Ann Marie to get back to launch and then I helped you launch. I launched about 15 minutes later and had a 20 minute soaring fl...

The current forecast looks good for High Rock tomorrow (Sat). I will give the Rock a try if the forecast holds. Sunday looks pretty good for the Rock also if it doesn't go too west.

Recommendations for Paraglider Training

I would appreciate some feedback about where the best place (US or international) is to learn to fly a paraglider. My goal would be to go to some place where I could learn and earn a P-2 rating within about 10 days to 2 weeks. My initial research seems to point to Point of the Mountain in Utah or po...
