Tandem/Instructor Clinic at Quest

We have had a couple of cancellations for our upcoming clinic at Quest Sept. 11th thru the 14th. If any of you would like to get your aerotow tandem rating, please contact me asap. We can keep the cost pretty low.

Thanks,

Paul

The Loooong tandem flight.

Things are a bit slow in Florida right now but we had a couple of tandems scheduled yesterday so Lauren and I headed over around 8:30. Dustin is in Brazil so Lauren was flying the tandem and of course, I was flying the tug. Our 914 tug is having an electrical issue so we were towing with Bobby's 582...

Re: AT Signoff

Hey Tony, Wow! Thanks for the great compliments. We really need and appreciate the word of mouth advertising. You were a great student. I was also curious about the yawing on tow. It is possible that you played some part in this but I wonder if it's just that the camera placement at the end of the k...

New Toy and clinic

Quest Air is the proud owner of a brand new T3 Tandem Falcon. It's crisp and shiny and seems to have much better performance than the old one. I was flying my old ragged out Mark IV the other day and Dustin climbed right through me with the tandem. It also seems to glide much better. Bob Lane brough...

Re: Flying 7/18-19

Hey Janni, I flew a similar track many years ago and had what I considered my first flight to the beach although it was the Delaware Bay instead of the Atlantic but it was still a bunch of water. Matthew had been following me and went down a few miles earlier so they picked me up. The Nuc plant you ...

Wife support!

Put Lauren to work this AM doing tandem discovery flights at Quest. I have found that her job with Visit Florida, though rewarding in many ways, doesn't create enough income to keep me in the style to which I have become accustomed. Her new job will add nicely to her other income and perhaps I can b...

Re: 2009 Region Nine XC flights

I just finished reading all the fun reports about the great flights from the Pulpit and thought to myself "What a shame that Pete has retired the region 9 XC contest" then I saw your post, Hugh. Good for you for taking the initiative to keep up this great tradition. I hope you get tons of ...

Wow! That is an incredible flight, Larry. Why have we not read about this on facebook? Make sure Davis knows about it when you get the details especially if it's a new record for the region. Might as well get some recognition and glory!

Re: Ridge Soaring

Interesting topic. I believe that great flights are sometimes made just because someone has the audacity to think he can do it. On both of my attempts to fly the Woodstock Ridge to the south end, I had incredible conditions and made it easily staying stinking high the entire time. Although there may...

Re: Ridgely June 14

I had a similar if somewhat less spiritual flight several years ago at Ridgely. I believe it was at the Fly In cause Rob Kells was there with demos and I wanted to fly the T-2. If my memory is correct, Matthew had taken it up earlier and hogged all the lift (or so I thought). Still I decided to go a...

Hey John, Glad you finally got some flying in. It has remained pretty rainy here but there has been some decent flying late morning into early afternoon. Gonna try out my elbow one more time tomorrow before making a final decision about the ECC.

Re: OT: the Emma Jane cat colony project

I'll help out with what Craigin was referring too. Someone (Ellis?) was trying to find a home for a cat and she gave the cat a long and flattering description. Terry's very short reply was "Is it plump?" Thought I was gonna die! Paul P.S. Lauren and I took on a similar but slightly smaller...

Re: Flying to the beach in FL!

Forgot to mention that Lauren and Jamie drove for all of us. Lauren arrived just minutes after we were on the sand and helped break down and carry out in the strong winds. After a nice sea food dinner she climbed back behind the wheel and got us home while Dustin and I rested up. I really hate that ...

Flying to the beach in FL!

Friday, four of my British friends, Dustin and I flew 109 miles to the SW and all landed near the fishing pier at Venice Beach on the Gulf Coast. As far as I know, we may be the first group to do this from Quest. Word is that Bo Hagewood and Curt Warren flew to the nearby airport but not to the beac...

Great March in FL

March can be a tough call down here. A couple of years back, I remember having only three "flyable" days for the whole month. But so far, it's been damn good here lately. Davis Straub, Dustin Martin, John Chambers myself and others have flown 40 to 50 mile out and return tasks (triangles, ...

Re: one more for the wrecked shoulder club

Hey Hef, That really sucks. I think you should definitely take Simon's advice and stick with slopes of 5 degrees or less. When I was a young whippersnapper, I would regularly cheat death on the steep and deep but now I am more than challenged enough just to survive the nice groomed cruiser runs. Of ...

I met Gordon a couple weeks back when he flew down to Quest with Johnnie Thompson. Super nice guy with a great attitude. I don't think he expects to make a bunch of money, just have some fun and hopefully pay some expenses. Hope it works out for him.

Lauren's surgery

Great flying in Florida continues

Not sure what we have done to deserve this but mid winter flying continues to be great. Yesterday, Jamie Sheldon, her friend Carl, Linda Salamone and I launched early and headed north after hanging around the field for a bit trying to get high. Carl left ahead of us and managed 109 K's. I towed up l...

Hey John,

Your accident report was excellent. Lauren was jealous of your writing skills. Who would of thunk it.

P.S. Lauren is still living on mega quantities of percocet. Hope her pain subsides soon. It's wearing her down.

Re: We lived!

After Lauren made the announcement that I had towed her cute little butt into the sky for the first time, we got the following note from a good friend who wishes to remain anonymous. I had made some stupid comment to him about how we missed the opportunity to end our lives together in a blaze of glo...
