Flight options for Tuesday

Post by TeamRuiner »

Hello everyone!
I am hoping there will be somewhere to fly this Tuesday. I am in eastern Maryland and am not afraid to drive. I am dying to get up. Thanks.
P.S. The winch has arrived, and she is a beast. 20hp pay-in capable of tandem tows in no wind with 5500 feet of line. I'll post some pictures of her later this afternoon, as I am still at work.
Later,

Hi guys! The weather looks better later in the week - less chance of thunderstorms. Excited for you to get the winch setup!

Check out the pics of the winch. Just got it mounted on a brandy new aluminum trailer. Check it! Eternal Flight on Facebook. Thanks

We don't have an official LZ. We've been told not to land in the LZ on the right, but I'm not sure exactly which field that is. I haven't had a problem landing there.

Regarding Dickey Ridge, we do have an official LZ. I think it looks like the state of Vermont from launch. It helps to have a pilot that's been there before point it out. The landowner there (or at least her father) has been a big supporter of hang gliding in the Park.

There is a big field off to the right with some rolling hills in it. It looks much better than our main LZ, however, the landowner has chased off the few pilots that did land there.

Please remember that you need a Shenandoah National Park hang gliding permit to fly there. The Park rangers often check for the permit. If you don't have one, it will take a couple of weeks to get, at least. There is a form on the CHGPA website to apply.

Good luck this weekend!
