I'm thinking about that long drive to Daniels.... but haven't yet decided between Sat vs. Sunday. Sunday looks stronger at the moment, but OTOH I hate driving back from Daniel's Sun night when I have to be at work the next day. Decisions, decisions, *smile*

Mark,
That decision is easy. Go both days!

PS I"m going to try to PG it tomorrow afternoon. Working in the morning.

I think there is a chance of thunderstorms Sunday. Makes my decision pretty easy. ETA 2:40P+. Bacil

Normally I would pass on a 5-10 forecast at Daniel's (for HG). But OTOH, the 3k forecast is calling for some stronger winds later in the afternoon. Hmmm, hard call... Still debating.

For some reason I just wasn't feeling it today, so I stayed local. Washed the glider, took care of a broken line on my harness. Think I heard Bacil laughing, from a couple grand over launch! Hope those that tried it today had great flights.

Didn't go. Wasn't feeling it either, plus kinda wore myself out working in the heat in the morning, plus Dan let me know about a chance of rain there yesterday after 4P, plus Greg wasn't feeling it either. Hopefully Randy will pipe up and tell us how it was yesterday there. Bacil

Here are the basics. Arrived at 11:45 am with Justin Stanley and picked Austin Kasserman up at the lz. On launch it was blowing straight in at around 8 mph. I decided to fly the hg since it was mid-day. Austin launched and that was the last I saw him. Justin launched next and began to soar the ridge. He stated later he landed because it became too bumpy for his liking. I launched at 1:10 and played like a yo-yo on the ridge until catching the big one to 3045 above launch (4705 msl) and deciding to head downwind. My decision to leave was encouraged by a rain squall approaching from the south. I understand it did eventually pass with very little percipitation. However from the air it did look quite daunting. As I headed out I noticed a squall forming in the north. I was in a sandwich! My track line was nne. After about 6 miles I did not like the look of the northern squall so I decided to land. It was a tough decision. I was in the middle of wide spread lift and the sky was popping with cummies. I was fearful of rapid overdevelopment. The lz was next to a shed. So I quickly tore down the glider and put it in the barn/shed. However both the north squall and the south squall fizzled out......oh well. The sky dried up with much blue and occasional cummies. The official address of my lz was 209 Kinderhook Rd., Madison Va. All in all it was a enjoyable xc adventure. Total flight time was 1:40 with my departure altitude being my max. I did notice that near the end of the flight the wind did turn more westerly. Thanks to Justin for the retrieve.
