Matthew,
So far 15 people, including Karen and you posted that they will come.
Thanks, the club will reimburse.

How many grills do we have for sure?

Is it too late to register?

Have tried several times to sign up and pay dues online with no success. Can bring hard currency, beer and good stories.

Would come up from Fredericksburg with my daughter who is a non-current Hang II.

Of course! You can pay dues to any club officer in person. We should have enough grills.

We have three SMALL grills. If yours is at least medium-sized, then bring it.

Here's my grill. Should be able to handle maybe 6 burgers at once in a pinch.

So, if the forecasts don't change and there's a good chance of rain on Sat night, will we forego any fly-in events that night?

Or, if it's not flyable on Sat, but it looks like the chances of rain that night are less than currently forecast, will we try to have a party on Sat night?

Or, if Sun turns out to be promising, will we try to have a post-flying party, even though it's Sunday and many are likely to hit the road?

Just curious.... And sort of wondering how many WOULD stick around on Sunday evening? I would, but that's just no-non-flying-life me, lol

Mark I think it might be moot now. Forecast looking gooder and gooder!! Little to no rain on Saturday now, and NW winds.

Edit: ok maybe not. Wunderground is differing from NOAA quite a bit on this.

Here's what I posted to the Ellenville list:

"If we average out the weather forecasts from various sites, it looks like it
will be EXCELLENT flying in the Pulpit, High Rock, Woodstock arena this weekend,
interspersed with perhaps terrifying thunderstorms. Should know if it will be
large organized storms or little pop-ups by friday morning."

The way you tell is by looking at the national radar map and seeing if there's any large shit off to the west.

The NOAA weather prognisticator I'm using is showing a dramatic improvement in both wind direction and chance of rain from last night.

[EDIT] Responding to JR below. I was looking at http://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/ma ... andweek=ON. But, I just checked again, and Saturday "de-improved." I'm sometimes seeing temporary weird data, or I'm losing the ability to read. Either one is likely.

I'm putting in for leave on Monday in case we're looking at late Sunday activities.

Not sure which NOAA forecast Dave is seeing, but here's the current Seven-Day Forecast for McConnellsburg, PA. as of 1130 hrs on 5/9/13. Obviously, it might improve, but at the moment it sounds a bit iffy.

7-DAY FORECAST

This Afternoon Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 5pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 72. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tonight A chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Areas of fog after 11pm. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 51. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Friday Night A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 58. Southwest wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 72. Southwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Saturday Night Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Sunday A chance of showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Not to be a party pooper--- but it's starting to smell like Woodstock to me on Sunday with the size of the front and the termperature change predicted.

Jon has been promoting the idea of a party at the Pulpit launch this weekend regardless of flyable weather, as changing days at the last minute to chase flyable weather has been frustrating for some in the past. I'll let him chime in on his current thoughts...

Hmm. A 60% chance of rain Saturday night isn't a 100% chance. It might still be worth planning for festivities and camp-out at the Pulpit on Saturday eve. The next morning people could head to Woodstock if that looks better for flying, but maybe after an early morning cloud dive??

You guys will be in the best spot possible: camping overnight and getting up early to get set up before the winds throttle up to brisk midday. Why migrate 2 hours from the Pulpit when you are there and all you have to do is get up early and get ready before it gets too strong on launch  . Bacil

Looks like there are 2 fronts back to back. 2nd one scheduled to pass thru the area late Sunday PM. Hence the mid-50s forecast for Monday in Hagerstown and similar velocity winds. Bacil
